HI,

hope you don't mind me writing in English, mein Deutsch ist schrecklich...

I had a similar problem, my phone has an older android version which doesn't support all the functions of the stromer app.

After buying an ST2 I had no more money left for a new phone so I found this solution: Smile

On your PC (maybe on windows phone too, I haven't got one so can't try it) you can install 'Andy' this is a free android emulator and can be found at www.andyroid.net

It installs a virtual android machine on your desktop which works exactly like an android phone or tablet. It has a link to the Google playstore where you can, among others, download the Stromer app and it works like the real one!

There is one little issue of no real importance: The app has a map where you can find locations of Stromer shops, the last known location of your ST2 and your own location. The last one goes wrong because the emulator doesn't use your device for finding your own location but instead it uses the location of your internetprovider.
Don't mind about english, your hint is great and myself (or someone) will publish in german. With "Andy", the advertising from my Stromer AG finally becomes true.

Am I correct, the emulated app does not need any phone? The whole data exchange is made over internet (not over GSM)? As the last known position of your ST2 is shown in the map, this might open a door for track logging..

Das "Stromer Portal" auf dem Desktop / PC ist für Stromer Kunden nicht zugänglich.

Yes you're correct, no phone needed. The ST2 communicates with the cloud via GPRS (M2M) and the app (or in this case the simulated app on your browser) also communicates with the cloud so there is no direct contact between the ST2 and the app.

This might change when bluetooth becomes available...

I'm still very disappointed that we as customers have no direct access to the Stromer cloud via their portal which feature was indeed advertised !

Another thought which comes to mind is 'What is going to happen when Stromer goes out of business ?' Will OMNI in that case die together with the firm ?

In this case we've bigger problems than a app that doesn't work anymore. But I'm quite shure, that would not happen the next few years.

Ah,misread this one:

No, it doesn't..... Sad

If you read the text on the official Swiss Stromer website under 'Technologie->OMNI' you'll find the following text:

--------------------------------------------
Mithilfe des Stromer Portals können Sie Ihren ST2 konfigurieren und analysieren, Serviceeinträge und Wartungspläne verfolgen sowie auf die Daten des Bikes und wichtige Statistiken zugreifen.
--------------------------------------------

Presuming 'Sie' is the customer who owns ('Ihren') an ST2 than this text promises a lot more than the app, even with "Andy", can deliver. BTW, the translation on the Dutch website is even more specific about giving the customer access to the portal......

I would really love to get statistics and be able to analyse and customize my bike....

You're right, the german text promises much more than the international version:

stromerbike.com: schrieb:Through the Stromer Portal your Stromer dealer can configure and analyze your ST2, track its service records and maintenance schedules, and access the bike’s data and vital statistics.

And of course, the functionality of the app is far from this, regardless if on phone or desktop. I should have written "closer to the truth". The way Stromer advertises OMNI brings the company close to obscure sales reps. E.g, the make you believe, you will have Bluetooth access to your ST2. But even Bluetooth is installed, there is no functionality - as you know.

I'm not aware, if a Bluetooth project is in pipeline. In earlier discussions, the developpers mentioned, a GPS tracking funktionen might be programmed by third party people. I've some doubts, because of the size of this market (It will take years, until few thousand ST2 are sold).

Thömu (Thomas Binggeli, founder of Stromer & Chairman of BMC) said in a recent speech, OMNI is now paid "forever" including roaming in all countries. He confirmed it to me in a short conversation (and it is now implemented in the bike configurator).

You may remember, at the beginning, you had to pay a extra fee for OMNI. Then, OMNI was integrated for three years. And now "forever". This shows, the company is really aware of the problems with OMNI. But in our world of tech gadgets, OMNI makes the difference...

(OK, the shape is also important)
ONMI forever !!

That's a slogan I would happily adhere to, maybe we can have some T-shirts with this tekst printed on it... Smile

My daily business is ICT at the University of Amsterdam so I should be able to get some feeling if other company's ICT is reliable or not.

In my ST2 case... When I purchased the bike I had the immediate feeling that Stromers ICT lacked a lot of things but what the heck, the bike is great, it runs like a rocket, when I'm riding it I have the feeling that it's especially made for me and it makes me happy.

Furthermore my dealer (Qicq in Amsterdam) fully agrees that I'm right in my complaints about the portal access and the not working bluetooth option, so now let's hope that Stromer takes it's responsabilaties and makes some effort in fullfilling unfullfilled promises... Smile

BTW does anybody know the best tyre pressures front and rear for the ST2 ? This week I had 2 flats, 1 nail and 2 days later a piece of glass...

Hi joop

glass pieces are really annoying ... just picked out two of them today out of my (Stromer V1.0-)tire in my weekly "checkup"-routine.

As for the best pressure: just have a look at the side of the tire, there should be written the min and max pressure for your tire. I normally use the max pressure to lower the resistance while driving (but with lower comfort) ... while in winter time I reduce the pressure slightly to have more "grip".
